  1. Overview
  2. Introduction and Aims (coming soon)

Ulcerative Colitis is a form of Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD). It is an autoimmune disease whereby the immune system attacks your gut wall. This can cause inflammation, ulcers and bleeding.

As a scientific experiment, I have drastically modified my diet in an attempt to see whether this can help manage the symptoms of my ulcerative colitis. I am recording my diet, weight and bowel movements

As of writing this overview, I am 72 days into this experiment. The results so far are encouraging in terms of managing my symptoms and are also having positive effects on my weight.

I have therefore decided to write this blog series. It is my hope that readers will also find the results informative and thought provoking and that readers who are suffering from ulcerative colitis find the discussion around this experiment useful.

As well as having effects on my weight, fat percentage and bowel discomfort, this diet has changed the way I think about certain food groups and changed what foods I actually find appetising and indeed addictive.

I have experimented with cooking, eating and baking foods that I wouldn’t have previously eaten. I have grand ideas for this blog and if I am able to find time to actualise these ideas, then I hope to also include recipes and comments (both positive and negative) on certain dishes I’ve tried.

I invite you to join me on my gastronomical journey. I am collecting data and will be presenting the results as scientifically as I am able to and I invite readers to add their own thoughts to the discussion.
